Depends on the coach. I don't see them get a big name, even in the draft all the big time QB's will be gone, so vetren is how I'd go. Brian Griese might be available, Kerry Collins is another person there has been some talk about, but it all depends on who is coaching the team.

So, just how big a roadblock is Millen in getting what we need QB-wise? Coach-wise?

Millen was actually pretty right on with his QB choices in the off season, it was Mooch who convinced him Garcia was the guy. And you can't really fault him on Joey, he was the second rated QB in his draft. I don't really think you can go wrong with most of the coaching suggestions out there now, except Singleterry. That could either be a hugh sucess or a major disaster and it's not worth the risk, IMO.

If the Lions offer someone enough money, then they'll probably come here. But who's really out there, QB-wise, to chase? There's really nobody to get all excited over. I've heard rumors about Aaron Brooks coming here and I say No Thanks. He's proven just as incapable of taking a team leader's spot as Joey and they're just about as inconsistent as each other. I've also heard rumors that the Lions would entertain Mike Tice as Head Coach. If that happens, I'd hate it. I hate Mike Tice. So who knows. I just hope we don't draft another freakin' wide receiver in the first round 2006. :giggle2:

As much as this is an unpopular stance - I think Joey should stay, and under a different coach and different offensive system - I think he will be good enough.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

So does anyone else we might bring in - unless we think we're gonna sign some big name QB.

Name one potential Lions QB who doesn't. At least you save money by keeping Joey. They should try and find a Jeff Tedford prodigy who worked with Joey at Oregon to be the OC.

They should totally and entirely scrap the WCO and concentrate on improving the shit outta the O Line. Then, maybe, on a full moon night when the earth is in the exactest point of its axis and aligned with the rest of the planets, Joey might be serviceable.

Absolutely....WCO is crap for the players we have. Our 1st round, 2nd round, 3rd round, 4th round....you get the picture....draft pick should be O-line - or sign a damn good O-line free agent. The defense needs tinkering, but not the complete rebuilding that the offense needs.

Definetly bulk up th O-line, that's why I've been saying they need to hire Ferentz from Iowa. He has expirience coaching the O-Line under Bellicheck. But if they switched to the WCO used by Jeff Tedford at Cal, and in once upon atime in Oregon, you might be able to get the most out of the collective talent.

Round and round we go......

Hearing that Joey will start this weekend, Orlovsky will be 2nd, and Garcia has been dumped down to 3rd.

Is the season over yet............

I can fault him for trying to make us buy that Joey was in the "development stage" for over three years and trying to cram him down the throats of all subsequent coaches that came along. You either have it or you don't regardless of what you did in college. There are several other rookie QBs that had "developed" in a year or two. Perhaps Joey peaked in college? Not to say that some of the coaches didn't have their own shortcomings, but you have to look at is the common factor in the past 5 or so years ... three coaches but only one GM. You do the math. Most other GMs would have been fired in a year or two.

The competion is so tight in the NFL, I would say that if Garcia hadn't been hurt so early in the season and the team was able to gell under his leadership, things may have been way different. Add to that the amazing amount of defensive injuries ... mostly due to them being on the field so long. The Lions really are pretty talented and aren't that far away from a good season. A little tweaking on the offensive line for whoever remains as QB and who knows?

David Carr, Joey Pinkpants, Patrick Ramsey, Josh McCown, David Garrard, Rohan Davey, Randy Fasani, Kurt Kittner, Brandon Doman, Craig Nall, J.T. O'Sullivan, Steve Bellisari, Seth Burford, Jeff Kelly, Ronald Curry, Wes Pate. That's every QB drafted in 2002. Please tell me who amongst them has left the developmental stage yet.

Do Ben Roethlisberger, Carson Palmer, or Ely Manning ring a bell?

I'll give you Palmer. Rothlisberger and Manning both play in run based offenses, and that makes them seem better. Without their RBs, Eli and Ben would be struggeling young QBs.

I DO kind of wonder whether Joey might have done better under a different offense. I'm probably in the minority, but I don't think that Joey's going to be railroaded out as quickly as many people seem to think. I do; however, think that our offense may undergo some restructuring ... or needs to.
